Staff Training

What Is PowerCord?

Watch this 3-minute training video before your first tenant conversation. It covers what PowerCord does, why your property uses it, and what tenants experience during enrollment.

What is PowerCord Energy?

PowerCord Energy delivers multi-family energy management for Texas multifamily. PowerCord's platform reads lease data from your property management system and triggers electricity contract actions at move-in and move-out, including mid-lease modifications. Contracts align to lease dates automatically. Staff do not contact electricity providers, track service start dates, or manage vacancy transitions. The platform also handles automated electricity revenue for property managers, generating referral income on every enrolled unit.

Why is our property using PowerCord?

Your property uses PowerCord to make electricity enrollment automatic and compliant. Tenants get contracts that match their lease dates, with no deposit and no early termination fees when they move out on time. The owner can also recover overpaid Texas sales tax on apartment electricity going back up to four years, separately from electricity enrollment.

No FAQs match that search. Try a different word, or chat with us.
How does a tenant enroll in electricity service?
After signing their lease, the tenant receives a "Welcome Home" email from PowerCord. It includes a personalized link to enroll. The form is pre-filled from their lease -- tenants just need to review and confirm. For a full walkthrough of the process, see how automated electricity enrollment works for Texas apartments.
What if a tenant can't find the email?
Ask them to check their spam or promotions folder. If needed, direct them to the on-site QR code, the QR code at the top of this page, or contact PowerCord support to resend the link.
What if the tenant hasn't enrolled by move-in?
Remind them that the sign-up process is simple and takes only a few minutes. Their lease dates are already matched. If urgent, they can scan the QR code or visit the direct link.
FAQ

Choice and Cost

Is PowerCord the only electricity option?
No. Tenants are free to choose another provider. However, PowerCord is designed to prevent common problems -- like early termination fees, delayed activation, or service gaps.
Is this service more expensive than shopping online?
Tenants pay the rate set in their electricity contract with the designated retail provider. PowerCord emphasizes lease-aligned convenience and contract protection -- not lowest-price promotions. Tenants retain the right to shop and select a different provider if they prefer.
Does PowerCord charge tenants a fee?
No. There are no enrollment fees. In most cases, there is also no deposit required.
FAQ

Moving Out or Breaking Leases

What happens when a tenant moves out?
PowerCord automatically ends the contract based on verified lease data. There is no need for the tenant or the property to take further action. This is handled through a Continuous Service Agreement (CSA), which transfers service back to the property account until the next tenant enrolls.
What if the tenant moves out early?
If the tenant moves out early and the property has confirmed the lease change, PowerCord can coordinate early termination with the provider. In most cases, the tenant will not be charged an early termination fee.
FAQ

Service and Support

Who do tenants contact if they have questions about their electricity?
All tenant electricity questions should be directed to PowerCord Energy -- not the leasing office. Tenants can reply to their enrollment email or contact us at info@powercordenergy.com. For electricity account questions, tenants can call 866-381-8214.
What if the tenant wants to change their plan later?
They can contact PowerCord support to discuss changes. However, their contract is matched to the lease to avoid early termination risk, so changes are typically not recommended unless they are extending or ending the lease.
FAQ

Property Manager Actions

What do I need to do as a property manager?
Just introduce PowerCord at lease signing and point tenants to their Welcome Home email or the QR code. You do not manage accounts, track enrollment, or call providers.
Can I see who has enrolled?
PowerCord handles all backend tracking and reporting. You do not need to monitor enrollment unless otherwise directed by your regional manager.
What if I have a question I don't see here?
Reach out to your internal leasing lead or PowerCord Energy's property support team directly: info@powercordenergy.com or text 877-367-6597. You can also use the contact form below.
